Galway Atlantaquaria, National Aquarium of Ireland
Bigger, brighter and better than any other aquarium in the country, Galway Atlantaquaria to over 170 species of fish. Overlooking the Atlantic in Salthill, it’s two floors of swimming, scuttling and squirming sea life. Check out the giant 60-foot Fin Whale skeleton (Grainne Whale), explore a model submarine, meet Moon Jellyfish, octopus and baby starfish! Try the touch tank where you can hold spider crabs if you dare. Find Nemo if you can.
Let your whole family jump for joy at Jump Lanes indoor trampoline park. It’s energetic, it’s exhilarating – and it’s pure fun for everyone. Between ten trampoline lanes, an artificial ice rink, two giant pool tables (kick soccer sized balls to score), regular pool tables and table tennis, you’ll be spoilt for choice. It’s strictly over 5s only, except for Saturday morning toddler sessions. Note that denims are not permitted.
Loughwell Farm Park
Take a trip to Moycullen in the Connemara countryside and visit Loughwell Farm Park with acres of indoor and outdoor fun for everyone. Get up close and personal with all sorts of birds and animals – ducks, geese, Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs, ponies, turkeys, donkeys, goats, horses, sheep, lambs, calves, rabbits and chickens. Take a nature walk, try a sand pit or test your skills on the timber obstacle course. There are go-karts, a zip wire, mini-golf, swings and the brilliant barrel train. If weather drives you indoors, you’ll find a large climbing structure, a four-lane wavy astra slide and the famous vertical drop slide as well as skittles lanes, ride-ons and giant Lego.
The Burren Nature Sanctuary
Head south along the Wild Atlantic Way and just outside the picturesque village of Kinvara you’ll find The Burren Nature Sanctuary on a 50-acre organic farm. It’s a slower paced way to discover the magic of the Burren. Explore the woodland trail and find fairies along the way; see the incredible karst “moonscape”; meet Cookie the donkey and Frisky the feral goat. Visit the botany bubble and have fun in the outdoor playground and indoor soft play area. Afterwards, take time to browse the Avoca shop and eat in the fantastic cafe which boasts a ‘no fizz – no fryer’ policy. This place has it all and we genuinely love it!

An easy journey just 4km from Exit 16 (Loughrea) on the M6, Turoe Pet Farm is a great day out no matter what the weather brings. Kids can feed pigs, ponies, cows, donkeys, goats and sheep (animal feed is provided). Additionally, an all-weather, buggy-friendly nature trail means getting outside is always possible.
Just 5 minutes drive from the hotel is this hidden gem, a wonderful park created around an ancient castle and a historic demesne. The paved walkways are perfect for buggies, bike and scooters and boast spectacular views of Galway Bay. Discover the old castle ruin, a large playground and a walled garden. Picnic tables, BBQ areas, nearby toilets and a coffee/ice-cream van in high season make it a great place to spend an afternoon outdoors.

Believe us when we say it’s an experience you’ll never forget. Take up the challenge of a “friendly” family race to get the blood pumping through your veins. Or play it safe and watch from the designated spectator area. Either way, you can be sure you won’t miss out on the fun!

Stay on the ground and watch the fun unfold or if you’re feeling adventurous, take the plunge of those dramatic diving boards!
