Galway Bay Sailing Club

If your crew are raring to hit the seven seas be sure to try Galway Bay Sailing Club. Conveniently based in Renville, Oranmore, and just 5 minutes’ drive from Maldron Hotel Galway. The club is well-known for its warm welcome to visitors and non-members looking to partake. Galway Bay Sailing Club organises and facilitates racing and sailing of many different vessels from dinghies to cruisers to multihulls, catering for both adults and juniors. The club offers training and instruction to adult & junior non-members.

Galway Equestrian Centre

Any aspiring jockeys among your brood? Just 15 minutes’ drive from Maldron Hotel Galway is Galway Equestrian Centre. Set on over 100 acres of countryside, this state-of-the-art riding centre has over 22 horses and ponies with fully qualified instructors to help make your visit as enjoyable as possible. With the massive advantage of having both outdoor and indoor arena’s Galway Equestrian Centre is all weather ready, so you can be assured of family fun rain or shine.

Galway Bay Golf Resort

If golf is your thing we have a real treat just a few minutes’ drive from Maldron Hotel Galway. Galway Bay Golf Resort is a world class course designed by none other than former Ryder Cup and World Cup golfer Christy O’Connor Jnr. The course expertly blends the breathtaking scenery of Galway Bay and the rugged wildness of the Atlantic coastline. Dotted with mature trees, water hazards and concealed bunkers this is a challenging course for both your long and short game, with highly acclaimed putting surfaces.

Local hiking spots

There are a number of local hiking spots including Renville Park, Slí Na Slainte and of course along the Wild Atlantic Way. Galway Kayak Club

For the wild at heart, why not take on the raging waters while enjoying stunning scenery as you kayak in Maree just a short drive from the hotel. Galway Kayak Club can provide you with all you need for a fantastic Kayaking experience. Of course Galway Bay and the west coast in general offer fantastic opportunities for sea kayaking. Many visitors to the club focus on this aspect of paddling, and others have taken the opportunity of “come and try it” sessions for sea kayaking in the past. The club has a variety of vessels such as sea kayaks as well as the river runners, play boats, K1s, K2s, Wild Water boats and polo boats.

Swimming

Are your kids born water babies always mad for swimming? If so you’re in luck at Maldron Hotel Galway as there is plenty of opportunity between leisure land for slides, games and water features, head for the beach in Salthill during the warmer months for a rejuvenating dip in the ocean or indeed you need not step outside the door. Our inhouse leisure club is free of use for guests and features a 20m indoor pool, kids pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and fully equipped gym.
