The Maldron Hotel Galway is nestled on the edge of Oranmore, a picturesque, charming village just 10km from Galway city centre. Guests can stroll to the village and enjoy the numerous activities Oranmore has to offer:
There are also a number of pubs in Oranmore such as The Porterhouse, the beautiful thatched pub McDonagh’s, Keane’s famous for their live music and Riardan’s to name but a few. You’ll find the warm Irish welcome that Galway is known for at any of these places as well as delicious bar food. There are a number of excellent restaurants in Oranmore also such as the French bistro Armorica, the Italian restaurant Basilico as well as a number of take-aways.
Built in the 15th century, Oranmore Castle stands beside the water creating a beautiful horizon over the Galway bay. The Castle opens to the public on selected dates for guided tours. It remains in excellent condition and offers a window into the history of Galway and Oranmore. It is still inhabited by artist Leonie King and her husband Alec Finn of the famous Irish band De Danann. Given its close proximity to the hotel, you should definitely take some time out to visit this interesting historical site during your stay with us!
Located just five minutes from Oranmore, Rinville Park, is a wonderful amenity. With an extensive network of walks through woodlands, open farmland and harbour side, Rinville Park offers a recreational facility of outstanding quality and beauty. Overlooking Galway Bay, the wooded pathway leads around the historic park surrounding a 16th century home, the original structure of which can still be seen. Explore the grounds and you will find an impressive children’s playground and outdoor gym! With stunning views across the bay to the Burren in county Clare, this is well worth checking out during your break.
