The Arts Festival: Galway Arts Festival is Ireland’s largest arts festival and through the years has grown to an un-missable international event in the arts calendar.
Each year the programme provides a varied offering of music, theatre, dance, comedy, discussion groups and family events. This is a colourful, vibrant festival that caters to all tastes and age groups, with many attendee’s coming from outside Ireland to add to the cultural and international tone of the event. The Food Festivals: The 5th annual Galway Food Festival will be held this Easter Weekend, March 24th – 28th 2016 in the ever vibrant Galway City. From demonstrations to debates, talks to taste trails to food tours there is a plethora of food, fun and festivities on offer. Kicking off on the Thursday there is all manner of events from afternoon tea to whiskey master classes, tasting menus and food & cocktail pairings to die for. No let up on the Friday, start your day with coffee tasting learning to appreciate the different blends and aromas. Moving on to learning how to make the perfect scone and rest of a fish and chip lunch in the Popup Fish Shop or if you are looking for something a little more indulgent why take part in the local lobster celebration. Finish your evening with a hunter gatherer feast!Saturday spells family fun with butter and bread making for kids, kids pizza masterclass and Teddy Bear’s picnic. For the grown-ups there is wine tasting and wine & fish pairing. Sunday is a fusion of family fun events, wedding fairs, comedy performances and ‘grow your own’ lectures. Finally Monday winds down the festival with seaside foraging, pig on a spit and a good old fashioned quiz!
The Comedy Festival: Drawing both Irish and international big name comics for some truly hilarious performances right in the heart of Galway, The Galway Comedy Festival brings headliners from around the world for a diverse mix of comedy styles spread in venues across the city. The festival is made up of full stand up sets, improv., theatre, a special dinner show and there is even children shows ‘Comedy Club 4 Kids’. The Sugar Beat Festival: This Tuam based festival has evoloved into a two day event which offers attendee’s a chance to see established international acts, rising stars and new comers. Children are also welcome but must hold a valid ticket and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
