Always a favourite, this year’s Burren Slow Food Festival will take place on the last weekend of May 2016 in Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare. All the events on the weekend will focus on the delicious edibles that the sea and the land around us produce for us to enjoy.
All of the varied events, offers and parties happening over the weekend will centre around the delightful offerings that we receive from the sea and the land that surrounds and sustains us. The following are just a taste of the events taking place during the festival – Oyster tasting, try oysters of different provenances, expertly paired with complimentary wines and stout to enhance their flavour and provide a wonderful dining experience. Of course the traditional Burren Slow Food Banquet will run again this year and is once again an unmissable event for any food lover. For those bringing little ones along they are sure to enjoy the ‘Bushcraft and Cooking for Kids’ event. A favourite for all attendees is the Farmers’ Market, there will be a farmers market outside and inside the Pavilion Hall where guest can sample some of the offerings there and then, or purchase a supply and take it home for later. There will of course also be a wide variety of non-food products available for sale at the market, all from local, small producers from the surrounding areas.
In order to enjoy the delights of the festival, you will need a place to stay. Maldron Hotel Galway is ideally located between Lisdoonvarna and Galway City, so that you have the best of both worlds. All our guests can avail of free parking, free WiFi, and use of our leisure facilities including 20m indoor pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and fully equipped gym, so there is plenty to keep you entertained in-between events.
